Hi all,

I hope to soon be the new owner of a Q30 Sport but i have a few questions about the models,

What does the Intouch spec give you extra and is it worth waiting for one or would a standard sport option be fine?

I also see Intouch Nav listed, I thought all Q30 sport's had SatNav or is that something different?

Would you say the better engine is the 2.0 petrol or the 2.1 diesel?

Finally what issues should i be looking out for when viewing?

I have been looking for several weeks now but because they are quite a rare car it is really hard to find the right spec and colour (black or white) and along with the insane second hand car market prices at the moment it makes finding one difficult.

Many Thanks for any help you can give me,

Thanks, Bob

Hi Bob, Its not as clear cut as you think.
Yes the InTouch spec it was standard on the sport model. But the sport model from mid 2018 was a diluted version of the original 2016 / 2017. The models were called 2018.5 I think.
See specs as picture for the 2018.5 series.

You as you can see, you could order a sport petrol in only 2WD or the 2.1D in AWD only. See the option packs, this is why they are all so different out there now.
If you go 2016 / 2017 / 2018 you get the different sport spec which was full on sport with the sport seats which had the fixed headrests etc.

As for petrol or diesel its your choice 🙃 You will get less per gallon from petrol but the engines are very responsive, as in no turbo lag. Diesels more per gallon and more predictable power delivery. They are pretty much matched on torque but petrol has higher PS and pulls harder above 4k etc.
If you want luxury sport the older cars are better spec'd with the leather memory seats etc. Have you considered the Sport City black trim? It was a 2.1D with lots of options and they made quite a few. Mileages will be higher as the cars were bought to be driven by business type doing motorway miles I guess.

As for what to look for, it is a compromise on price / age / spec and what you do with it. I would check how many owners it had, who serviced it and in what condition it is in?
Mine was an ex infiniti direct lease, it did 6k in 9 months from new then was idle until I bought it another 7 months later.

Ah i see, i think, Thanks Cornish,

I think my budget will only allow a 2017 sport model, but if i understand you correctly the 2017 early 2018 are all Intouch models? would they also all have sat nav or was that an extra even on a 2017 model?

One last question, what even is Intouch :) as i see some 2017 sport's stating this and some dont.

A 2017 sport model will get you lots of kit as it was pretty much top of the line. They will all have the InTouch pack which was a SatNav option, standard on the sport which had the fancy leather seats, radar cruise etc. It was an option on the lower spec cars as some did not have it. In this year and sport spec you will know they are the proper sport model by a flat bottomed steering wheel and sports pedals for info, I think 80% will be the 2.1 D. Cracking car IF you can find one in budget. Just to remember though, they are a premium brand car so expensive to service and maintain compared to budget brands.
This is a great video of one in that spec matey 😄
this car has the full matrix LED auto hi/low headlights and radar adaptive cruise.
I think they were about £34k? in 2017.

Thanks Cornish,

I have spotted a 2018 with every option listed, price is £14800 which is very very cheap.

Its a private sale, i even agreed to buy it but bottled it due to many people saying the price was too good to be true and why wouldnt the guy trade it in etc etc, webuyanycar would even pay £16000 for it. Thats how much a bargin it was, but that was what was raising alarm bells.

We are all in the same boat here, it is a gamble. The 7-SPD gearbox is £7k, LED headlights £1k each. A few members here have had issues with their cars, patched them up and moved them on.
Make sure you don't buy one of those. You are correct, if it looks too good to be true it probably is too good to be true. It's all hard earned cash for most of us, view twice, think twice, buy once is my moto. Get a warranty (y)even if it is three months, get it checked over ASAP by your local trusted garage you use where it will be serviced / MOTd etc. Most trade sellers do PDI and history checks, I personally would not buy an CAT repaired vehicle. There are good cars out there mostly sold by franchised dealers etc.

This one might be food for thought.. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202110148496849 You did say you liked a black or white one I think?
Anyway happy hunting and all the best. Cornish.
