Poor fuel economy after a service

Hi

Just after a bit of advice, got the 2.2D 2016, my mechanic recently carried out a B service after I supplied all parts including the fuel filter; and I’ve since noticed the fuel economy has gone very poor, dropping nearly around 80 miles less on a full tank, it’s the first used tank after the service.
Is this supposedly normal on maybe the first few tanks after a fuel filter has been changed or is there clearly an issue here?

Thanks

It could be normal, I would guess two possibilities?
Did you get the service interval mileage counter reset in the service menu?
If you did then, it may have reset the fuel trims to relearn them. If you did not, car may think it still got the old diluted oil in it and again runs different fuel trims and regen characteristics?
I would check it's been reset and put some redex diesel cleaner through it as this can only help, then I would check the next two tanks on MPG.

Cheers 🖐

Yeah the reset was done, so makes sense.
I’m on the third tank now and it seems to have improved so it must just be the first possibility you mentioned, I’ll get the Redex today, cheers 👍
Glad you sorted it Roy 🖐 your economy is also ambient temperature related, it's been hot here as I'm sure you know too!😎 The air charge density gets lower the more the temp goes up, then your engine gets hotter etc etc so fuel economy suffers. Its even worse for a petrol engine 😫 as they are less efficient to start with. 😕
All you can do is keep everything internally clean, so if your injector spray patterns are not 100% the redex should sort that. Tescos sells the redex for about £4 I think.

That’s Brilliant advice Mate, thanks.
My local Asda had it on offer for £2 a 250ml bottle so I bought 4! I think Amazon does too.
The 500ml bottle was £7, or 2 x 250ml for £4…..made no sense!!
