Battery replacement

Hi

this may sound slightly daft, but can anyone in the know how, please advise re changing over both the main and auxiliary batteries.

I really thought it would be straight and simple like “take old off and put new on”, but I’m since reading some confusing things (unsure if true or not) about having to keep both front doors open when doing, keeping the power going on the terminal cables so you don’t lose settings and memory etc; and various others things.

It’s confused me a bit and I don’t want to go ahead until confirmed and I’m confident.

thanks all

Hmm I would have someone certified check it out just to be on the safe side.

Hi, I have replaced mine. original batteries are too expensive, I just brought a motorbike battery for the aux battery and normal car battery for the front. It is a easy swap as most of other cars. It says need start/stop battery for the aux battery but I just use a standard one and works fine. I guess if the battery gone again, I can buy another as it is a lot cheaper for the motorbike battery.

Thanks for the suggestion. Is it working well so far? @Roy_C
Hi! I also replaced the batteries on my car, both at the same time. For the auxiliary one I chose Exide AGM with a slightly higher Amp, 15 vs 12 standard. The main battery is also Exide AGM. Everything is fine, the Stop start works perfectly, even after 2 weeks of sitting in the parking lot. Both are easy to replace, if you have the tools and 20 minutes avaliable. During the swap I connected cables to the engine bay connection points from another car.
