Adding keyless entry / smart key

hi i recently brough a 2.2 sport for the wife and she wants a push button start in it, i brought the button from amazon and it diddnt work, aprently because i dont have a smart key, so do i just need to buy a secondhand smart key and get it programmed or do i have to buy a whole kit for keyless entry etc for it to work?
