Default Q50 Recall Steering Glitch !!

For any owners of the Q50, Don't want to see anyone get hurt, find out if yours is affected as soon as possible please

Quote:
Approximately 60,000 units are affected by the issue, out of which 28,182 were sold in the USA, and 3,804 were marketed in Canada. On the Chinese market, Infiniti sold 6,894 Q50 models that are affected by this issue.

According to Automotive News, the Japanese premium automaker has discovered that a potential software glitch could cause the vehicle to manifest a “lack of steering responsiveness and change in turning radius.”

As Infiniti representatives have explained, the problem could happen in rare circumstances, just after starting the car. This steering system is not at its first misfortune, as the MY2014 Q50 has also been recalled because the direct adaptive steering system’s electric support might be disabled at freezing temperatures.

Is the same software used in the Q30? If it is, I assume the same problem could possibly appear in the Q30 too which is concerning.

At this present time the Q50 is the only model in the line-up that has this semi-autonomous software

I wonder what they'll be doing to fix this issue though. Just a software update or would it involve removing the system altogether ?

This is one reason why i'm glad they kept it limited to the Q50 for now since it can be said the tech is still sort of in beta mode, it's almost never complete, but for them most part safe enough to be released to the public.

These things are always "for the most part safe enough" lol, and that's something that people should be used to. You have a lot of people getting into fits when something like this goes through a "stumble" yet they enjoyed the feature the whole darn time

I just checked and dealers need to reprogram the direct adaptive steering engine control unit software. The problem is, Infiniti won't begin notifying owners until Aug. 9. What if an accident happens before an owner has been notified?

That question is probably what a lot of people have probably asked about other car makers but usually it comes down to someone getting injured or dying from some potential recall, THEN the ball starts rolling. Just pay attention to that whole Jeep thing going on in the new about the actor that died.

That's ridiculous though. Shouldn't have to wait that long before reacting to something. If a potential problem arises, deal with it ASAP. Keys to avoiding a law suit, as well as showing customer care.
